QUITO TRANSIT GRAFF!
New York is always  hectic for me year after year, and now the projects in Quito are growing too. SO much so that I am short on time to catch up on my blog posts as you can see. As soon as I get a chance to relax I will get to them:) The easiest way for me to share at this time is via INSTAGRAM @TOOFLY_NYC or on my Facebook Page. In the meantime check out the Quito Transit Bus Project we had this past weekend. A first for Ecuador, happy to have been part of it.

LONG ISLAND CITY, NYC
My last day in NY was super sweet! Spent the 4th of July at my favorite place in Queens the Long Island City Pier. I had a lovely combination of work and play that day. Worked on a live art piece with my cousin Richie for the LIC FLEA, sipped on some beer, and enjoyed a juicy turkey burger with fries. YUM! It had been a minute to sin. Summer in NY is the ultimate, each time shorter than the next unfortunately. My schedule more hectic every year. I hardly get a chance to hang with my friends now, but one way or the other they make the effort to meet up and I LOVE THEM FOR THAT!!! Being loved by your friends is one of the happiest of feelings. Especially since I spend months at a time now without them. Â You should always show your true peeps love as well as those family member who care. To my dear friend Evelyn who I love very much thank you for always being there and sharing the family time with me:)
( EVELYN PHOTOS HERE, Dude send them lol! )
Making the best of my NY minute with dearest of friends and family <3

So the weather in New York is really off this year. We used to rock the LLP event in May but found it too windy and rainy so we figured June would be sunny, hot, and, dry but NO! The rain came thru on Saturday and washed us out. Every single tent that weekend was booked. Luckily our friend Randy had some backups and we did the best we could to hold it down outdoors but when the rain came down hard we moved inside and closed up shop:( It happens. We were like fuck it, mother nature calls the shots. We gathered in the hallway and inside of the shop. We gobbled up all the ceviche and drank all the sangria! A few of our friends dropped by, and to our surprise so did the Brooklyn Boro President secretary! Patty Dukes and I received an LLP Salutation certificate for the community work we are doing and are in talks about getting a big space for next year in BK. The highlight of our rainy day. Shout out to our friend Jose from Latino Life who sponsored us this year for making it happen. We want to give thanks to everyone that made an effort to pull through RAIN OR SHINE!
SATURDAY // DAY 1: Rain or Shine

SUNDAY // DAY 2: LLP Comeback!
Day two was better, the sun came out, and we made an excellent comeback. We invited our Day 1 vendors and a lot more people came thru. Faces I haven’t seen in years! It was really nice to catch up with folks one on one. Hommie Yvey was holding down the Toofly booth, Clara was holding down the LLP mini bar with special sangria $5 drinks that was selling out and making everyone tipsy, the BBQ chicken wings with mango sauce was going fast, sales were picking up, vendors were happy, Samantha was clicking away, Randy started his live silkscreening, Reph and Dj Enygma on the tunes were making us boogie, and a lovely summer in the Brooklyn outdoors  the way we envisioned it came together. Big thank you to everyone who joined us, on Sunday and supported the LLP crew at Rebelution Ink. Our Ladies Love Project Pop-Up Shop is back!!! New and improved and ready for next year. Thank you BROOKLYN NYC!!!
THANK YOU LLP CREW 2015!

WELLINGCOURT MURAL PROJECT RE-CAP!
Hello World!!! — I’m back from my summer travels and catching up on my blog posts. This summer was hectic, hardly had any leisure time but the small breaks I took made up for it. My first mission as soon as I arrived to NY was to rock a fresh new wall at Wellingcourt Mural Project in Astoria Queens. I decided this year that I will begin to document the painting process as a time lapse to bring a little more fun to the project. I touched base with my friends Serge, and Fubz at MOTIONGRAFF who worked on a stop motion video for me a while back entitled; STAY FLY Episode 22 – We had a lot of fun then and was excited to hear they were down to shoot the Wellingcourt wall with their friend Stephen. Luckily this year there was no rain in the forecast so we worked for 2 full days under the hot sun. I enjoyed building with Stephen he’s such a cool guy!!! Very professional and loves what he does. The energy was on point and the best part is we had fun during the process. The video looks awesome!!! I love the music they chose, and how the edits came out. THANK YOU GUYS <3 and thank you Alice and Garrison for keeping the family style street art community event alive year after year. Especially these days when all other events are turning into corporate media takeovers, and hipster trash parties. The work on the walls of our ever changing city is to bring communities together, locals together, and to enjoy the chill summer vibe where kids can run around and hang out with the big kids. Â It’s not about corporate media piggy backing off our work and hipsters getting drunk and making a mess of our hood. Authenticity is not for sale, so back the f**K up! Our neighborhoods are going through a tough change with all these greedy mofo’s who have no respect for our people and hoods. Watching the change of my beloved city year after year is sad, but many of us ain’t going down like that. We’re warriors of this shit

Atuntaqui 2015 International Graffiti Festival! – This is my second year back to paint and I am glad I stuck around this time. I had a blast!!! It was really fun painting of course, but now that I have been building with many of the artists a little bit more over these past three years, the hangout/chill time is official! On Saturday night we decided to run the streets of Atuntaqui in search of an adventure. We landed in a few memorable places with laughs and chelas in hand. Getting tipsy and happy on our strollz through town. At the end we were dancing all crazy into the night at a little hole in the wall spot like a loving crew of friends. I felt the genuine “carino” among artists who respect each other and look out for eachother + can boogie on the dance floor:) It’s moments like these that take me to the happy place I treasure because it reminds me of my hommies back home and all the fun we have when we get together, especially to dance! Gracias compañeros y compañeras <3 Celebrating life is what it’s all about here’s to more good times in the mothaland!!!
Shout out to the lead organizer Bolivar aka JASON! A True School Atuntaqui local and one of the first graffiti pioneers in Ecuador. Jason and his team makes the Atuntaqui graffiti festival happen every year on a top notch level. He’s always very chillax and helping the artists get what they need to make colorful walls happen in his hometown. Atuntaqui is most definitely one of the largest street art destinations in Imbabura with over 40+ walls walking distance. An creative community arts example for all towns in Ecuador to take note…
Giving thanks to Dr. Patricio and his family who came thru to support the outdoor project in their barrio and welcome me to his wall. Â Very nice man right here born and raised in Atuntaqui, and cool with all the locals <3
I arrived to very pink wall which I figured I should go ahead and make it funky, colorful, and bright so it can stand out as the train pulled in to town. Happy Womens History Month! It’s all about the “PINK LADIES”

ART BASEL 2014 ::: RE-CAP!
The year is coming to a close, and the best way to do it up is to hit up Miami’s Art Basel! If you can paint, party, and hit the beach you got the Art Basel fun covered. This year the Few & Far Women collective got our shit together a few months before to organize one of the largest all women collaborations we have ever done. It was a huge wall, and the production funds necessary to make it happen where steep. Luckily we made it happen independently thanks to our sponsors, friends, family, and supporters who helped us raise funds through our GoFundMe campaign. Shout out to everyone who helped us get to Basel this year and rock this amazing wall. A total of 17 graffiti and street art women Toofly, Agana, Dime, Meme, Hops, Merlot, Ksera, Kazilla, Jenn Ponci, Ursula X Young, 179 and our guests Mavel, Ms.Kee, Rachel, Silver, and Sour who helped us on the wall. Our theme this year was an underwater electric fantasy inspired seaworld. It was an opportunity where we can enhance the emotion of our characters, and push ourselves to design letters and background imagery to tie it altogether. A challenge but in the end we made it all work. We had everything we needed to take on this big task;Â scaffolds, latex paint materials, lifts, ladders, spot lights, an array of spray paint sponsored by IRONLAK, a personal photographer/videographer, and DJ Izzy who kept us going all night and turned our wall location into a full blast block party. What a year! It was a sight to see…the production was on point. Everyone put in a lot of effort, especially our team leader Meme. Â She is one of the most hands on person I have ever met. She’s the type of gal who will make you a Mojito, climb to fix a scaffold into place, scooter her way around Basel promoting the crew and still make time to paint her piece. All of this on like 2 hours of sleep! I don’t know how she does it, but when you love something that’s what it takes. As a crew we depend on her to get us going, and we trust she finds a way to make it happen. As a crew we have gotten stronger and more confident when she helps us pull it together in the nick of time. I love that <3 THANK YOU MEME!!! – Â I am proud of these ladies. Each one did their part. I was happy to see everyone having a good time and doing what they love even if they had to sleep deprive themselves to get their part done. The wall came together in the very end and each of us found a way to enjoy Art Basel Miami this year in our own unique way. We realize Downtown Miami and Wynwood is changing tons, and so are we. Unsure if we will return to go bigger, louder, and stronger…it’s just not about that anymore these days. We are growing as individuals and artists who want to give back something more than just a big wall and a party. The corporate folks are moving in, the graff locals are trying to take back their streets, tourists, greed, and nasty cops are at an all time high affecting and interrupting the creative flow. That’s when you know things might just take a turn in another direction folks. So enjoy it while you can! — Thank you for the continued support <3
DAY 1 – FEW AND FAR WOMEN BEGIN!
This is one of the largest walls the Few and Far crew has ever taken part in…-PROUD OF US!

Hommie T stopped by to check out the wall and take flicks with her lovely friend. I fell in love with her neon yellow nails! Especially next to my piece…
FABE and his girls also showed some love and came thru for pics <3
DAY 2 – FINALIZE MY PIECE AND HANG WITH PEEPS!
My #bestfriendforever Evelyn, and her lovely family stopped by to spend the rest of afternoon with me <3 Thanks guys! :::LOVE YOU:::
E will always be one hot tamale! Looking good my friend you are beautiful:)
let’s go eat!
Dinner and strollz with my lovelies! LOVE HARDER, LOVE, LOVE IS A RISK, LOVE LOVE LOVE is what we are all about…#hopelessromantics we are <3
DAY 3 – WYNWOOD STROLLZ and FINAL FLICKS
It finally got to a point where we were able to chill and relax so Dime, Silver, and I connected with Cristina. I met her last year at the wall  she had such good vibes! We took some Wynwood strolls and she invited us to roll with her to the Miami Marina, and the South Beach. We were all for it! Definately needed it to UNBASEL ourselves. – Because this year I personally wasn’t crazy about any of the parties, drinking, or crowds – hanging with Cristina was perfect. She was on the same page, gotta love when that happens…
LOVE IS A RISK DO IT ANYWAY. SO loved this…it was written a million times on a wall…whoa…
More DOPE flicks by Cristina Isabel Rivera coming soon!

BANG! – Done. With all that was going on I felt I needed to dedicate this piece to communities around the world who were protesting against police brutality. These are not peaceful days we are living in, Art Basel is a bubble and we were caught up in it. Unaware of what was on TV, radio, or social media. My state of mind these days is peaceful and in tune with nature, and the flow of life, however everywhere around the world it’s chaos. Gotta keep trying to create more love in the world but until then if there’s no justice there will be no peace!

TOOFLY HOLIDAY POP UP SHOP – RECAP!
Taking the time to pull together my last post before I devote my heart to my family this holiday week. I had a very short trip to New York this fall which made it super difficult to do everything I would have liked, and needed to do. Next time a 1-2 month stay in New York is about do! Promise. The goal this fall was to rock my first ever Toofly Holiday Pop Up Shop. As some of ya’ll have heard The Ladies Love Project is taking a mini break so we can try and switch things up for 2015. Unsure when we will return exactly but trust we are working on a fresh new twist for LLP. Until then I will be keeping the holiday spirit alive <3
For years now I’ve been building with our hommies from Rebelution Ink and Fresthetic who’s local owned businesses continue to hold it down in Williamsburg. These are the folks we gotta support these days so they can rise above the crude reality of gentrification. Rebelution Ink is a small silkscreening biz and boutique on 560 Grand St that is open to print, and share their space with independent artists and creative folks. Randy Quiles and his team do a great job on all the Toofly t-shirts, totes, and hoodies. I love this place! I dig the people that run it, as well as the people who come to the space to connect. They are a community of “true school” New Yorkers. Heads who share a common passion for their neighborhood and the rough changes it’s going through. They are here to support their hood, the local businesses, friends, and family who hold a tight grip to Bushwick. It’s hard not to vent about what’s happening all around them especially with people who identify with the change. We all came up together in this nitty gritty concrete jungle. A “dope world” back then of diverse energies and fly authentic vibrations. We sOoooo miss it!!! It’s why we are still here sharing them good ol’ vibes on a community tip. We genuinely care to be in each others company because it makes us comfortable. We can indulge in sincere conscious dialogue about the life around us because we truly do “relate” to eachother. I appreciate each and every person who came thru this past weekend because of this and much more. What you shared and brought to the space says a lot about why you came thru. That’s what it’s really all about folks. I don’t know how much longer we will have these kind of spaces and places. It’s important these days to show your support because like the destruction of 5Pointz, which hit us hard this past year, it can be here today but not tomorrow. True New Yorkers know the impact it has on our lives and the new generation when we lose “our” spaces in the city where all our dreams were planted. Fat Beats, East Village Radio, Pearl Paint, are no more. The luxury condo loving, glass encased, suburban lifestyle that is glued to a screen 24hrs a day, has taken over indefinitely. The illusion is thriving and making born and bred New Yorkers feel a certain type of way. It sucks. Just like everything else that’s no longer original to this city. Art, music, and even our local piragua man is being re-packaged and replaced by some hipster to sell multi flavored ice’s to the masses of uncultured transplants. It’s real out there son! and it’s wack how we let it all happen. Not much you can do about it now. So I’ll be back ( just to visit ) because this New York City sistah is a continent trooper now, and I belong to a immense universe outside that city bubble that inspires one to be young, wild, and freeeeeeeeee ready to kick brand new flava in ya ear! HELLLLLLLLOOOOOO World. I’m finally in Sunny Florida. Ready to relax a bit, and spend thanksgiving week with my querida familia before the Art Basel Miami madness next week. November was an amazing month. I’m loving this three city tour! My first stop was LOS ANGELES, CA about 30min away from Pasadena, Ca where Designer Con 2014 was being held this year. This fall I decided it was time to move into new territory and expand the visibility of my brand to a much larger audience. I teamed up with long time hommie KANO who’s been rock’n these really fun convention events for a few years now, and he recommended I give it a try. I enjoyed it!!! The “booth world” and the hundreds of new faces I got a chance to meet personally who follow my instagram page was special. Meeting your followers live and direct is cool especially because they are in a an entire different city and the energy is still all love. I will most definitely be back next year. Yeahhhh! Shout out to my dear friends Izzy and Kano and my LA family I got a chance to finally re-connect with after 30+ long years. Â Thank you guys!!!

TOOFLY HOLIDAY POP-UP SHOP COMES TO BROOKLYN!
Renowned Street Artist TOOFLY Hosts Solo Pop-Up at Rebelution Ink Boutique and Gallery
BROOKLYN, New York—October 21st, 2014—After a successful three-year run with the Ladies Love Project Pop-Up Shop (LLP), New York’s beloved street artist, designer, and entrepreneur, Maria “TOOFLY†Castillo will host her first solo TOOFLY Holiday Pop-Up Shop at the trendy Williamsburg boutique, Rebelution Ink.
The popular boutique and art gallery will play host on Friday, November 21, 2014 from 6PM to 10PM and Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 12PM to 8PM to graffiti enthusiasts, fashionistas, and the Brooklyn community. All will get a chance to view select paintings by TOOFLY as well as shop her highly sought-after, handcrafted goods. Fellow street artist Shiro, who hails from Japan, will make a special guest appearance on Saturday from 3PM to 6PM to celebrate the unveiling of new art print releases ($35-$75).
With TOOFLY’s signature style, shoppers can find the perfect holiday gift to spruce up any home, office or wardrobe. At a time when women’s rights are at the forefront of today’s headlines, the mixed media artist has gradually increased her collection by adding an array of illustrations capturing fierce indigenous women. Such works embody the palpable presence of feminine power and creativity. The same can be said of the women who grace her t-shirt, hoodies, tote bags, and sketchbooks as sold at the TOOFLY HOLIDAY POP-UP SHOP. Attendees will experience a colorful, culturally rich world with an opportunity to sweep up a special TOOFLY tote bag valued at $50.00. Teatulia Organic Teas will be serving warm drinks alongside JC’s Sidewalk Cafe with special treats. There will be Hip Hop, Rock, and Funk playing throughout the two days to help usher in good tidings for the holidays and build community spirit.
As an added bonus to what will be a rocking event, both SHIRO & TOOFLY will kick-off black book signing–a graffiti ritual with roots in nostalgic New York, where artists reverently swap black books to collect drawings or catch “tags.†With live artwork, funky clothing and collectible designs by TOOFLY, this two-day event is not to be missed!
“Having the TOOFLY HOLIDAY POP-UP SHOP in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn is dope!†says Randy Quilles, owner of Rebelution Ink. “TOOFLY’s work honors the ‘true school’ New York vibe and her recent re-connection to her latin roots demonstrates a unique progression of her artistry.â€
TOOFLY will be available for interviews prior to, during and after the holiday event to discuss the changing landscape of street art in direct relation to changing communities.

The 5th annual Detonarte Urban Arts Festival is finally all wrapped up! I’m beat. Over 150 artists have been painting for a few days at the Mercado San Roque in the center of Quito, Ecuador. It’s one of the oldest, and craziest places I’ve ever been to. I’ve seen so much in the last few days of “Mercado Life” that has taken me away a bit. The realness is ill. Happy we can put smiles on the folks who spend most of their lives here, especially the kids that arrive from school and see a whole new playground. Here are some of my favorite pics, and some from our dear photographer friend; Mavizu.
Got our walls locked in and we’re ready to rock for the week!
