No commentsPAPITO LINDO DE MI CORAZON…
Finding it hard to put this post together…I don’t even know where to begin. Last week I lost my grandfather, our papito Raul. We flew back to Ecuador heartbroken…to say goodbye. A part of all of us feels empty, and we can’t help but fill it up with tears. I’m going to miss our talks, his little laugh chuckles, his silly jokes, his words of advice, and most of all…watching him gear up to build, climb, and fix things. As the days pass we are comforted by the beautiful memories he left behind when we flip through boxes and boxes of photographs. We are all so thankful for everything he strived for so that his family can have a happy, and loving home. Our lives are blessed because of you, and we will honor your life in all we do. Estrañadole mucho papito lindo de nuestro corazon…

April 2-17, 2011
OPENING RECEPTION
Saturday, April 2, 5-7PM
Press preview with curators: 4-5PM
chashama/Donnell Library Building
20 West 53rd Street, b/w 5th & 6th Avenue/ New York, NY 10019 (across from MoMA)
35 graffiti writers and street artists will unite to reclaim the former Donnell Library as a repository of visual information on the growing world-wide phenomenon of street art. This exhibition will present an art historical timeline that is a part of New York City’s unique legacy. The artistic contribution of these cultural catalysts and preservationists from the 70’s to the new millennium will address the ever-changing urban landscape and alternative modes of producing art in the streets.
This exhibition is dedicated to Rammellzee R.I.P. 2010
chashama is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and was founded by Anita Durst in 1995. The organization’s mission is to unlock and open doors of unused spaces across the 5 boroughs, making thousands of square feet available to hundreds of artists. PANTHEON: A history of art from the streets of New York City was awarded the former Donnell Library as an exhibition space, which is part of chashama’s Windows Program.
