TOOFLY PRINT SERIES #2 – SNEAK PEEK
It’s been a minute since I launched a new print series. The “Hey Ladies” series did really well, and I am happy many of the prints helped various charities and fundraisers all over the world. It’s time to rock a new set for the fall, especially one that marks my state of mind today. I’ve come a long way from that “around the way” girl folks love so much. She’s all grown up now. She’s at peace, and feels no need to rush through the city streets anytime soon. Here’s a sneak peek of the sketches taking form.

Vik and I just wrapped up a dope project for a very special client. The piece came out so dope!!! Unfortunately we have to keep it under wraps for a few months until it’s official release so we can share the final shots with the general public. Until then, here’s a little behind the scenes action…
Shout out to the AmplexusLab studio located at 3rd Ward in BK for letting us rock it out…
Big ups to Vik for locking down the gig. More after the jump!

It’s a rainy afternoon, AC on blast, and I’m working away at a new cardboard piece for this upcoming female group show in Berlin. Not crazy about the theme, I want to throw it out the window along with the 69+ etiquette rules they gave us to choose. Not very lady like according to their manual, but that is the point so it’s alllllll goooooood. I’m gonna go with my own flow on this one, and with all these crazy dreams I’ve been having lately it’s perfect.

A few weeks ago I was asked to work on a special graffiti style commissioned piece by our hommie Victor for his lovely wife Pamela. It was fun working on this piece because I got a chance to rock a bunch of graffiti tags and add a little Toofly steelo. Check it out…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAMELA!
GROWING IN SILENCE…
Whoa…I’ve had so many exhibits this month taking the time to actually write this in peace is bliss. The Invisible Instructions group exhibition is tomorrow, and it’s gonna be off the hook! Going through my sneaky peak process shots now and I’m just in love with my new work on cardboard. Definitely inspired to paint a lot more these days. Maybe it’s the cold winter days creeping in and keeping me cozy inside…or maybe it’s time to express the beauty of silence…
HEARTBREAKER
Started work on the 12″X12″ piece that will be part of a group show on December 10th at Mighty Tanaka gallery in Dumbo Brooklyn. I’ve been wanting to paint this one image I had hanging on my wall for weeks. As soon as I was all settled in and the sunshine leaked through my window it was on! The brush touched the canvas and in a matter of hours it all surfaced. This girl is bad ass! and she ain’t looking back for nobody. Can’t let anything or anyone get in the way of your flow, your dreams, your life. You’ll break a few hearts along the way, but most of that shit isn’t not your problem anyway. Freedom is bliss, and I’m loving it;)

RICKY POWELL X TOOFLY PHOTO COLLABO
I’ve been in the studio since 7am this morning working on a bunch of new works. I enjoy deadlines. I get super focused, and motivated. SOOo I’m on board for this photo collaboration with Ricky Powell for some upcoming spreads on FRANK151. I’ve never painted photographs before so I was excited to give it a try. I had taken a few hours to build up the inspiration and once that marker hit the paper I didn’t stop. I swear making art is a sweet sweet rush! It just fills you up like love. I don’t know why I don’t paint as often? I need to have a talk with myself about this. Anyway…these came out dope!!! I’m really happy with them. I got a new little steelo going on that’s surfacing off some of my street work. Gonna see how far I run with it. Shout out to Ricky Powell for the invitation to be part of this collabo joint;)

The busy bee season is kicking in! I hope I make it, specially now that I have like no time:( This past weekend I had an opportunity to rock a little 5min video with the FRIENDS WE LOVE youth team attending the New Design H.S aka Seward Park H.S. They did so great! The weather was sweet, the kids rocked the interview, and I got a chance to do paint a little something something. It’s days like this that make me confident the next generation will be alright. Especially with folks who take the time to give back to their communities. Love you guys! THANK YOU:)
When we were all done, I got a chance to walk around and scope out this place. WOW. This rooftop is an artist heaven…
The size of this place is crazy!!! I couldn’t wait to come back and spend an entire day re-doing my quick little throwie…
Voila! Not done yet but it’s getting there. Spent a whole afternoon completely zoned out on this piece and it felt great! I haven’t painted in solo mode in years. It was bliss, and definitely something I need to do more often. Yay! painting season has officially begun folks. Shout out to everyone who’s doing a killer job up there; WANE, BOUNCE, TRIXER, CERN, CECE, ERIN YOSHI, and MARTHALICIA. It was so good to see you guys. Last but not least the man behind this dope place; Jessie Pais, your the man! It’s people like you who make a huge difference in all our lives. Thank you for helping to carve out a little piece of this city for all of us to enjoy. As you can see I’m really excited about this whole thing, and even more so now that their third annual event is coming up. Mark your calendars! Saturday May 8th ROOFTOP LEGENDS opens it’s doors to the public. You don’t want to miss it. Info below…
