MOTIONGRAFF EPISODE 22 “STAY FLY” is officially on full blast. Video looks awesome! I want to send a special shout out to Serge M, and Fubz for rocking this piece. We linked up last spring for the project in BK on my first trip back to NY. This would be MotionGraff’s first female artist video:) Honored! It started as an art project. It has snowballed into a show. MOTIONGRAFF™ seeks to unveil the creative process through transmedia storytelling. Rather than use video recordings, we have opted to shoot only still images, using a number of cameras and angles, in order to present a stop-motion animation-style collaboration between producers of audio and visual content. Our goal is to showcase talent and techniques, while conveying a message.

I can’t believe spring is right around the corner! Time to gear up on some new goodies for the shop and prepare for the Ladies Love Project SP/13 Pop-up Shop. I have a few items in production as we speak, and a few that have arrived from wonderful new printers. It’s been a minute since I produced a postcard set. This year I decided to get some of my favorite paintings, illustrations, and walls into a 5PK postcard set. The printing quality is beautiful! I recently completed a poster design for the University of Texas at Austin for their upcoming event entitled “ABRIENDO BRECHA“. I was pretty siked to work with them again as well as illustrate and design the piece. It came out pretty fresh! Shout out to Eric Tang who reached out about the project. February 14-16, 2013 - The University of Texas at Austin

Abriendo Brecha (Opening a Path) is an annual conference on activist scholarship held at The University of Texas at Austin.  This conference brings together artists, community activists, and scholars whose work is directed toward social justice. Our goal is to build a vibrant community supporting research, creative production, performance and teaching that connects the university in sustained collaboration with community-based mobilizations for social change, in Austin and beyond.  In this sense, we take the University’s prominent motto—“What Starts Here Changes the World”—quite seriously and literally, giving progressive values of social change an institutional anchor in our training programs.  We are particularly excited about this year’s conference, Abriendo Brecha’s tenth anniversary. We have invited nearly 50 alumni of our programs to discuss their distinctive approaches to activist scholarship, and to reflect on their experiences carrying on these efforts throughout the hemisphere, both inside and outside the academy.

2013 is off to a great start! I have some new product designs in the works, as well as fresh new clients on board. Giving thanks while I adjust my sails in a whole new direction. It’s time to get to business and draw, paint, teach, photograph, organize, travel, and most of all design! I’m finally all settled from my travels, and wrapping up the last of my 2012 projects. As I slowly mellow back into my mountain life in Ecuador my heart catches up with my thoughts at last. So I begin to draw and feel it out. My analytical mind begins to process everything from beginning to end. It’s been almost a year that I have been away from all that I love, with no set plans of return. There’s so much I have yet to explore! An overwhelming energy to create and love wholeheartedly like never ever before has come over me like the waves in a vast blue ocean. Escaping the box is one of the best things I ever did to get closer to what my spirit truly yearns for. The all inclusiveness of nature; freedom, love, and creation. Everywhere I go now I will find myself connecting with Venus – Diosa Del Amor. I may not be able to physically be in all the places I want to be, but my heart is there and I will always return as it has many times before…

I had given up doing toy customs but figured what the heck. I’ll rock one more! Kidrobot invited a few of the graff girls to rock a Munny during their Pop up Shop at Miami Art Basel. My schedule was so hectic during trip I didn’t get chance to stop by the showcase:( I’ll try and dig up flicks from the show. Until then here’s a sneek peek at my completed Munny Warrior. She came out DOPE! Thank you Phi for making it all happen on such a short notice. Luckily I had a chance to paint her while I visited my sister in Ft Lauderdale and everything worked out smoooooothly. Whew!

Before heading back to my little mountain life I had a chance to rock a wall in NY for Rooftop Legends. I was so sad to buff my existing piece because it was one of my favorite works created last year. In life all things must come to an end, and with each scrape an each buff acceptance gets easier. Learning to let go is sooooo liberating! No longer holding on, and discovering what freedom really means. As I became unattached to the world that no longer served my souls purpose I began to discover a new world. My first piece, entitled “RETURN TO THE SUN” held a lot of spiritual meaning for me especially when I returned to my birth land, Ecuador. Since then the universe has been very clear on letting me know it’s time. Time to come full circle and give birth to the meaning of  “IX CHEL” It took me a while to understand why I paint what I paint, and what I am really trying to communicate with each drawing, painting, and mural. The work I do with women, and how through self love and self discovery you can expand your world and reach others genuinely. When I started to put the pieces together  I was in awe of it’s symbolic energy. I have always felt that there was something bigger than me that wanted to communicate, it’s just complicated to explain in the world we live in. Many will not understand, especially if they are not in tune with what is happening within them, and with the world around them. Especially with what is happening in our universe have ya’ll seen the sun!??? There was an explosion this year and our sun has a huge triangle on it! Looks like a gateway. Google that shit, Nasa don’t lie. None the less, crazy or not, I’m all about it. I feel it, and have been feeling there’s more to all of this and the signs have been there for years. I believe there is a powerful energy from our ancient worlds communicating, and we are it’s channels. Just gotta tune in…

This past week a completed a really dope tag logo for A FILM COMPANY who’s working on a documentary on women graffiti writers, and artists. I’m excited to be part of this project, and looking forward to meeting the entire team for a video shoot this coming November in NY.  A Film Company is film, art, photography, music, quality not quantity, believing, freedom, doing what you love, following your dreams, and most of all being who you are and being true to yourself. This is right up my alley, and I am happy I was able to recommend some really dope graff girls like VIK, and SHIRO to get down with project. A special shout out to graffiti woman BOMBA from Chile who put me in touch with Idalina Leandro Pifaro, producer of this film. She is steer heading a really dope project that has yet to be told. I can’t wait to see it develop. See you guys soon!!!

Something about the fall season trickling in, turning on my office lamp in the evening and sketching feels hella good. I love to sharpen my pencils, flip to a white fresh page on my sketchbook, and click on my mellow tunes track. My best work is done when I am alone. In touch with my own feelings, thoughts, and ideas. I am calm. In tune with the universe. Some pretty dope stuff pours out of me in these moments of reflection. Abstract at times, but when I look back at them they are right on point with my spirit requests. Looking into getting these new illustrations on a canvas, or a wall soon. Stay tuned…

Super duper excited to share this post with you guys!!! The Toofly mini short film is complete:) I want send a big loving thanks to our friend Jay Maldonado for the this awesome gift. ((( I love it )))) This is my first official Toofly video, and it looks tiiiiight. We shot this Toofly classic piece at 5Pointz on 100 degree hot day. Almost passed out…but with a million and one breaks and lot’s of water I pulled through. I chose to paint at 5 Pointz for various reasons. Especially because it is the one place I had an opportunity to practice my aerosol skills back in the late 90’s. We all love 5Pointz, and want to see it continue as a cultural arts space for the Queens community, and future generations of artists. The area is being taken over by condos like many other places in NY, and money driven investors. Mere’s and his team continues the fight to keep this place alive for all local and international artists, please help. Support 5Pointz
