REDE NAMI GRAFFITI WOMEN, RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL

On October 24th, 2012, Rede Nami a feminist network that uses the arts to promote urban women’s rights is showcasing the work of various female graffiti women. Super tough to understand Portuguese but you guys can use google translate if you need more info. Shout out to Anarkia, aka Panmela Castro for the invitation to take part in the exhibit in Rio Janeiro, Brazil.

Between old and new names of the urban scene worldwide, International Exhibition of Urban Artists Nami behind the Cultural Heloneida Studart State Board of Women’s Rights (CEDIM) of Rio de Janeiro drawings, videos, photographs, objects and paintings by 46 women inspiring proposing a reflection on the artistic production of women in cities.  With the title “is still needed,” says the show’s persistence in exhibitions of works by women to think about gender equality within and outside the field of arts, highlight the feminine production and inspire a whole new generation of artists.
