FRIENDS WE LOVE 120 SECONDS – TOOFLY

October 06th, 2009 | Category: Day in the Life,Video

Back to the grind!!! Finally catching up on life…I wanted to take this time to post a dope portrait video my hommies Mike Vargas, and Moni Pineda from Friends We Love rocked on my birthday last month. It’s UP! It’s not easy being in front of a camera eeek! but I really dig & appreciate these 120seconds mini series they’ve been working on with some of today’s dope visual artists, poets, entrepenuers, musicians, and dancers. Moments matter, and you gotta make every second count! I am so honored to be your friend guys;) thank youuuuu for letting me share my thoughts, and passion on building…

Toofly, Artist :: 120 Seconds from friendswelove.com on Vimeo.

and if you don’t know now you know…

Friends We Love began with a desire to document the inspiration, motivation and creative process of our talented friends in NYC and around the world. Our Artist Profiles quickly blossomed into four other shows. 120 Seconds soon followed as an open platform to share personal thoughts and passions. Recently, we aligned with the highly reputable Jonathan LeVine Gallery to produce our Off the Wall series featuring interviews with exhibiting, contemporary artists. While En Vivo captures the essence of some of our favorite live shows, eMotion Pictures serves as an experimental lab where we explore and capture moments through visual poetry.

ALL THE LADIES SAY!

March 13th, 2009 | Category: Art & Design,Community,Hip Hop Culture,Video

A  few weeks back my hommie Rokafella had a small intimate film screening of her documentary project called ALL THE LADIES SAY. I was very excited to see it because I KNOW this film is going to make a huge difference in many young women’s lives, especially young women in hip hop who want to break! Rokafella was one of the first b-girls I ever met in NY. When I saw her break, teach, mentor, write, sing, and SPEAK I was blown away. Being able to identify with someone from your own world, who goes through similar shit helps you connect like nothing else. She’s been my SHERO ever since. Her transformation shows an immense growth in being, so I am very happy she’s moving into film making. It’s time to take control over our images, and complex stories. BIG UPS to ladies in the film who are staying true to theirs and helping to share a positive image of women in hip hop.Check out the trailer it’s now officially UP!

Handstyles by yours truly;)

ALL THE LADIES SAY is a film that highlights the lives of six iconic female street dancers from San Jose, Atlanta, Miami and Chicago, who have carved a niche in the physically challenging, male dominated breakdance world. Discussions about motherhood, sexual tension, femininity versus masculinity and the rap industry/mainstream images are a few of the themes explored by the main characters.
