THE ART HUSTLE – DROPS JULY 1st!

June 20th, 2010 | Category: Art & Design,Pressed

Cardhacks Drops The Art Hustle artist trading cards July 1st 2010! Sneeky Peek…

Art Hustle_Toofly

The Art Hustle is a set of art and artist-based trading cards produced by The Cardhacks and manufactured in the USA by SideKick Media. The set is very much a collaborative effort with artists, and exhibits an international group working in multiple disciplines, including street art, toy art, kaiju, sketch, illustration, painting, aerosol art, poster art, collage, digital art, sculpture, photography and more.

What makes The Art Hustle so cool is that it gives you a completely new experience as a collector; the set is a tangible exhibition of talent that you can experience and learn about. You also have a chance to get an original piece of art! Plus, being inspired by trading cards produced in the 1960’s, 70’s & 80’s, the set offers up some vintage-inspired flavor including chipboard card stock and the much-loved wax paper wrapper.

Price: $126.00/Box ( Boxes are limited! ) – quick facts below:

WE LOVE IT! Especially picnic style…

DSC_0057

Over the past 4 years, there have been 6 Conscious Cycles. This summer will be our 3rd at the FIGMENT Festival. We start by creating a wall built entirely from reclaimed wood. Over the course of the festival, artists, community members, and children have the opportunity to paint on the wall creating murals that espouse the idea of consciousness in all of its forms- environmental, social, political, racial, etc. The artists paint over one another so as to collaborate ideas as well as create a living piece of art. The entire event, from building the wall to breaking it down at the end, is filmed for a time-lapse video. This year we hope to have 4 walls: 2 for artists to paint, 1 for community members and children, and 1 for children to exhibit their work from the entire festival in a gallery-like setting.

DSC_0059

Conscious Cycle started as a collective to bring like-minded artists, musicians, performers, teachers, and craftsmen together. Our primary focus was to raise awareness about urban and personal waste by showing a fun and creative way to reuse materials.  Over the past few years, the idea has expanded to include many aspects of consciousness and community building such as yoga, tai chi and art classes. These particular entities have grown organically from the experiences of the Conscious Cycle wall and its participants. We strive to create a forum for artists and community members to come together and share ideas in a safe, friendly, and stimulating environment. Last summer, 12,000 people visited Governors Island for the FIGMENT festival. This summer our goal is to provide even more opportunities for visitors of the FIGMENT festival to join in the Conscious Cycle by picking up a paintbrush or trying a new experience!

SUMMER SUMMER SUMMER TIME…

June 02nd, 2010 | Category: Day in the Life,Family,Green Living,Travel

ahhh yes it’s officially summer in NYC! It was an excellent holiday weekend. From maracuya batidos with my querida family before their trip back to Florida, to a delicious Ecuadorian BBQ with my BFF’s in Staten Island. There was plenty of delicious grilled etra√Īa, hammock sessions and mosquito smacks to go around. Let’s not forget “a party isn’t a party until you dance!” Dragged my brotha from anotha to LIBATION in the LES { official troopers } and “rocked the house yo!” lol, good times, good times. Got it all in and still managed to chillax with my love love at one of our favorite places in Queens, Long Island City Pier. I guess all that was missing was my iphone which got washed away that morning on the permanent cycle. Woops! probably best anyway…haha!
